Before you begin:
You can lodge your application online or download the relevant form to complete by mail or in person at the City of Wanneroo.
You will need to provide information to support your application and assist with the assessment. Application checklists are available to ensure that you submit all required information.
Fees are applicable for most applications and will vary depending on your business type and proposal. A fee calculator is available to assist you.
Upon receiving the application, the City’s Planning team will do a preliminary check to ensure that all required information has been submitted. They will contact you if anything further is required. Note that your application will not be accepted until all required information has been received.
Once the City has received all required information, your application is formally accepted. You will receive an acknowledgment letter via email, which will include the name of the Planner who will be assessing your application.
The City has 60 days to determine an application and up to 90 days if public consultation (advertising) is required. However, we aim to assess applications in a timely manner, and in many cases, applications are determined well before the required timeframes.
In some instances, your application may be referred internally to other officers in the City (e.g. Building and/or Health) or external agencies for comment (if required).
Some proposals may need to be advertised to the public for comment.

Once you have received Planning Approval, you can apply for any further approvals (e.g. building or health) that may be required.
Important note: If your business requires a Health Approval, it is important that you apply for pre-approval prior to applying for a Building Permit and fitting out your business. This ensures that any health requirements have been taken into consideration before you proceed with building.
