Businesses in Wangara are being advised of upcoming construction works on Lancaster Road as part of Western Power’s Clean Energy Link – North project.
The project involves the installation of approximately 6km of underground 132kV transmission line between the Padbury and Wangara substations. The works are designed to strengthen the electricity network to support growing energy demand across Perth’s northern suburbs and help connect more renewable energy.
Following works currently underway near Whitfords Avenue, construction will move to Lancaster Road, Wangara, including Sections 12 and 13 of the project.
Service locating works are expected to commence from 15 October, with construction scheduled to begin during the week commencing 19 October, east of the Motor Parade roundabout.

What businesses can expect
During the Lancaster Road works, businesses and visitors to the area may experience:
- full road closures and traffic detours around active work areas
- traffic controllers and temporary signage
- temporary changes to business access
- temporary loss of verge parking in areas where construction is taking place
- construction noise, vibration and dust.
Acciona, which is delivering the project on behalf of Western Power, has advised that access to businesses will be maintained wherever possible, and directly affected businesses will be contacted in advance where temporary access changes are required. Approved – Padbury Underground …
The Lancaster Road works are being completed in sections to help minimise disruption. Businesses, staff and customers travelling through the area are encouraged to allow additional travel time and follow traffic management and detour signage.
